Last Week
Review; The past week we have been looking at our new theme, Creative Me. We learned about working at a construction site such as, the names of the different machinery that are used as well as what they do. We also became architects and designed homes and put them together. When the cold finally broke a little, we were able to take a walk around the school campus and look at the different building materials that were used in constructing our school, materials such as, bricks, cement blocks, wood, metal and glass. This was so much fun because, along the way we were able to see animal tracks in the snow!! There is so much SNOW! We were able to bring some of that snow inside in our sensory bins and create snowmen, snowballs and even use some of our toy construction vehicles to move some of that snow around! We have been really busy!
This Week
This week, children will be exploring tools. They will talk about the tools that builders, artists, and children use. They will discover that tools make work easier and save time.
Word of the Week: toolsTools are instruments we use to accomplish a task or get a job done.Tools All Around My HouseAs you move through your day, call attention to the simple machines you use. For example, in the kitchen, notice the rolling pin (wheel and axle) and the cookie cutters (wedge). Children will enjoy finding the tools that you use both inside and outside the house.
Reminders
- Please remember to send your child hat and gloves along with their heavy coats, for going outside. It’s important that children get some outside time each day, weather permitting! There’s always so much to learn and explore outside!
