Before & aftercare August 11, 2025

Last week
  • The new school year is going very smoothly. All of the kids have found areas of the room that they really like.
  • Blocks: The kids have really enjoyed making houses in the block area. We are working towards having them make tall buildings.
  • Science: The kids had a great time using a syringe to spray colored vinegar onto the baking soda cars that they made.
  • Playdoh: We have been having a lot of fun with our new playdoh sets. They especially like the set where they can use playdoh to decorate a dress.
  • Bugs: Our classroom really loves nature! We love to rescue and to try to identify bugs. The kids are excited because we got some new containers and labels for our bug collection. The kids always make sure to show us any dead insects and then they ask if we can add it to our collection. I was really surprised because the kids are most excited that we added a mosquito to our collection.
This WEEK
  • Sample of St. Michael We will continue to center our stations this week around activities that make St. Michael special. We love to have real items to paint or draw. We try different art techniques. We use popsicle sticks, googly eyes, gems, and other items with playdough. We inspire the kids to use their blocks to build real buildings or other cool things.
  • Science: We’re going to have some really interesting science experiments over the next few weeks. We will do coke and mentos, and a lava lamp experiment. The kids in our room really love science.
reminders
  • Bus Times: The morning bus has been arriving around 8:25AM each day. The afternoon bus usually returns the kids around 3:45PM. Please arrive early for morning drop off. Please do not park on the line when the busses are coming- it makes it difficult for the busses to get through. Thank you for understanding.
  • Change in Pick Up: Please make sure to tell us at drop off or to call the office if your child will be picked up by somebody different or if they have an extracurricular activity at school. You can drop off activity schedules if it is an activity that repeats. Thank you for helping us keep your child safe.
  • No Toys from Home: Please help to remind your child not to bring toys from home.
  • Jay C Rewards: One really easy way to help us get money for special events is to choose us under Jay C community rewards. Simply, click the three lines at the top of the app, scroll down to rewards, click community rewards and then type 47111. St. Michael School is at the bottom of the list (please make sure that it says Charlestown). This doesn’t cost you anything and it will automatically credit us with some money when you check out.
